Carolyn is a native of Houston Texas. After exploring many out-of-state- schools she chose her education path at the University of Texas in Austin. She graduated from The University of Texas with a minor in psychology, majoring in Marketing.

She returned to Houston for a few years working at a marketing firm. Due to the economy in the 1980’s the firm was forced to close its doors. Fulfilling her love for travel, she decided to attend The International  School for Travel Agents. Upon obtaining her certificate, she began her travel career with a leisure travel agency providing luxury travel for clients around the country.  It was a dream come true! One weekend while visiting Austin in the 1990, she again fell in love with the city she had known years before. She was soon hired by Motorola planning their corporate travel. Unfortunately, the salary was minimal.  She knew she needed to make a change. Thinking about another favorite pastime – visiting open houses, perusing home books and magazines she decided to obtain her Real Estate license at the Austin Institute of Real Estate. That was in 1991 – she has never looked back! It is her love of “Home” and people, she says, why she has succeeded and will always remain active in the business.  She acquired her Brokers license in 2002.

On a personal note, Carolyn is active with Meals on Wheels, Served on the Board of Seton Associates, and a member of the Dell Children’s Hospital Circle of Friends. She has supported Safe Place for years as well as the Austin Humane Society, and various libraries around the city.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time her Golden Retriever, Charli and her husband, Keith.  She loves stimulating her brain, so classes at Laguna Gloria, Dell JCC, and Informal classes at UT are often in her schedule.  In addition, cooking classes at Central Market are a favorite!

She is a member of the institute for Luxury Home Marketing Specialist and currently holds her Accredited Buyer Representative designation.

Born and raised in Northeast Texas, David K. (Keith) Husbands is a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a BBA degree and concentrations in marketing and economics.

Upon graduation from Southwestern, Keith accepted a position as a Commercial Sales Representative with MCI Telecommunications in their Austin office.  With technology companies going through divestiture, the telecommunications industry was in its infancy. Because of his track record and industry knowledge, Husbands was approached by a group of investors, including his mentor from his MCI to join a start-up long distance company. His entrepreneurial spirit intrigued, Husbands agreed to join Travis Telecom, based in Austin, as Director of Sales. As is the case with many start-ups, this one did not meet expectations. Experiences such as these, with their hard earned lessons, continue serving him to this day.

Determined to apply the lessons learned from Travis Telecom, Keith continued his entrepreneurial quest by making a life altering decision and beginning a career in real estate. Within nine months of joining the JB Goodwin Company, Husbands was again being recognized for his leadership by being asked to open a new branch office. In less than a year the office was showing a profit, exceeding even the most optimistic projections

He was soon invited to join the commercial division of the company. While at Goodwin Commercial, Husbands negotiated leases involving such well known clients as Whole Foods Market, Tivoli and the State of Texas as well as numerous other regional and local companies.

Soon afterward, Keith met his wife, Carolyn. When first introduced by a mutual friend, Carolyn worked in the travel industry. With Keith’s encouragement, she soon received her license enjoying residential real estate to this day. It was with their combined background that led the newlyweds to form a company based upon their shared values and business philosophies. Their company, The Husbands Company Real Estate Services, places a premium on client relationships and outstanding service.

 David K. (Keith) Husbands is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Texas. He is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, National Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Builders, Texas Association of Realtors, Homebuilders Association of Greater Austin, Custom Builders USA-Austin and the Austin Board of Realtors. He has earned professional designations as a “Certified Graduate Builder” and a “Certified Green Professional” through the National Association of Home Builders.
